Alila Flores Resort, Indonesia

Lubuanbajo, Flores is emerging as the most exciting new tourism destination in Indonesia and fast becoming an alternative and a complement to Asia’s most visited tourism destination and investment attraction – Bali. This region is the gateway to the Unesco world Heritage Komodo National Park and spectacular diving spots.

SALA undertook detailed Masterplanning and conceptual branding for a new resort – Alila Komodo, set on a dramatic headland is the entrance to the Komodo
National Park flanked by two beautiful golden sand beaches, will consist of the Alila Hotel, a Beach Club and a retail land sub-division and villas also managed by Alila.

The masterplanning process took a very logical and pragmatic approach, by scientifically analysing the site conditions, geology, flora, fauna, context, micro-climate, aspect etc in order to understand and determine the best fit for the land to drive the direction of the Architecture and form of the development. The intent is to minimise the impact on the land when both viewed from the ocean side and hill side and not to impinge on the natural rugged beauty of the site. This process yields a fully integrated solution that achieves functional back of house requirements and ultimately a luxury guest experience.

This site driven approach yields some amazing resort features including, a romantic wedding lawns, tidal surf pools, cliff-side lounge and rock bar,  spa and wellness cocoon, dramatic infinity pools and hillside villas set amongst expansive rolling meadows.
